one night in vegas - which hotel
 

Our family (mom, dad and two teens) is spending spring break between Grand Canyon, Zion and Bryce and we've already booked park lodging at all three locations. But since we're flying in and out of Vegas we need two Saturday night stays - when we arrive and when we leave. We haven't bought our plane tickets yet (prices don't seem to be dropping much) but plan on arriving early in the day so that we can take in an "O" show that evening (heard it's fab). Since we're really not spending much time in the hotel or in Vegas I don't need the best hotel - simply clean and convenient (a good buffet would be nice, too). Any suggestions? Also, where's the best place to pick up show tickets?

With two teens I would recommend Excalibur. It is consistently affordable and has activities for teens. Its location allows easy access to a number of other casinos like NY NY, MGM. (Which also have stuff for teens, e.g.roller coasters)

Might I recommend Ka at the MGM for a show? I've seen them all and this one is by far the best. Show tickets can be picked up at any hotel, just ask.

Is there any way you could adjust your dates? It is my experience that Saturday nights are the most expensive in Las Vegas. Not sure if it would be an issue for you, but just a thought!

you might check out the new Platinum Hotel just off the strip. It's getting good trip advisor reviews, and seems to be moderately priced.

My new favorite is the MGM Signature.

Thanks for input so far. Unfortunately, our dates are set - I know this puts us in a higher price category for everything from flights to hotels and car rental so I'm exploring every coupon, deal and discount! I will take a look at Ka. We haven't been to any of the cirque shows so I'm sure we'll love whichever one we see.

My wife and I stayed at the Stratosphere at the north end of the strip and it was just fine. A short drive to the glamour spots of the strip and there is a roller coaster on top of the hotel and a great observation deck. We got a good deal on the room (about 40.00 or so) and it was clean and comfy.

There are a ton of hotels - but check the Flamingo, they usually have really good prices, and you cannot beat the location...

If you're just looking for a decent room and don't necessarily need all the amenities - pool, spa, big casino, etc. - I would check out the old Barbary Coast, which was bought by Harrah's and renamed Bill's Gambling Hall and Saloon (yeah, it's a mouthful).

It's on the corner of the intersection that also has Bally's, Bellagio and Caesar's and I think it's a great location because it's mid-strip.

We stayed there last August and the rooms had been recently renovated - and the room rate was great (even better than Flamingo, where we usually stay). Otherwise, my second choice would be Flamingo, which is next door.

Anywhere that is offering you a good deal on the strip is probably the place you want to stay.

But Bally's and the Flamingo tend to offer the best value/location on the strip. The North tower rooms at Bally's are nicely renovated, and it's connected to the Paris, which is fun and offers a lot to see and do.
