From the Royal Palm, El Viajante Segundo (if it's open) will be a couple of blocks north. La Sandwichérie will be a couple of blocks south (cross the street, walk down to the Amoco station, turn right and it's just on the alley). Puerto Sagua is maybe eight blocks down, also on the west side of the street (the hotel's on the east side). David's, a Cuban joint other posters love (I don't know it), is on Collins, somewhere between 9th and 11th streets as I recall.

Just a quick thanks for all the suggestions.
My husband and I arrived in South Beach at around noon. Cabbed to the Royal Palm CP ($28 before tip- set fare) and was able to check in early. The room was nice with full pool and ocean view- worth the $300?? Not really, I should have PL'd it but the staff is really nice.
Walked down to Puerto Sagua for lunch, good cuban sandwich & husband had the chicken with rice and beans. Did a bit of shopping then worked our way back down Ocean Drive tasting many mojitos along the way. Finished up at the Delano.
dinner that night at Wish which was excellent. A few after dinner drinks at the rooftop bar at The Hotel.
Breakfast the next day at the Front Porch was really tastey and REALLY slow! Oh well, headed to a pool lounge chair after that. The Royal Palm has fantastic pool service and the lounge chair was the most comfortable I have ever had!
Arranged a late check out and took a cab to Ft. Lauderdale for our cruise- $70 and about 30 mins.
