One night in Honolulu

I'm pulling my hair out trying to work with Continental to use our miles for tickets to Maui next June. The flight I am looking at now lands in Honolulu at 6 pm, and then we have to stay overnight and can fly out to Maui basically anytime that next day.
I need suggestions for hotels, etc. - we don't need to be on the beach necessarily since we'll be arriving at night but a nice pool and close to where we can walk to restaurants and bars would be great. Also not too far from the airport. Around $200 per night. Thanks!!!

Your best bet for a hotel with a nice pool, nearby restaurants, etc., would be in Waikiki. The few hotels around the airport are in an industrial setting and the only good thing would be convenience for your flight out the next morning. Not too much in the airport area as far as decent restaurants either.

If it's not rush hour, Waikiki is only ~1/2 hr. from the airport. That way you could have dinner somewhere on the beach, walk the main boulevard, etc. Taxi back to the airport in the morning.

Thanks everyone, looks like Waikiki is it. Any hotel suggestions?

The Hawaii Prince Hotel Waikiki is not really on Waikiki Beach, but it strikes me as the type of place you state are looking for. Nice, but reasonable for one night.

wow Bill, nice hotel!!!!

i'm partial to The Hawaiiana Hotel myself (on Beach Walk) but it is more modest but good central location.

I'm not sure the rates but I always wanted to stay at either Royal Hawaiian or Moana Surfrider Sheraton because they are the two oldest classic grand dames of Waikiki.

Yeah, and their lowest priced room is around is $229 in June. I think Kal and Mrs. stayed there last year and thought it was pretty nice. We may be extending our Kaua'i trip to include two nights in Oahu. It may be where we will stay.
