One More NYC Question - What to do around Pace University
Sorry, I have one more NYC question. My DD has an audition this coming Saturday at Pace University at 11:00 am. When she is done with that, I am meeting her but we need to stay in the area since she needs to check the callback boards during the afternoon. We will probably get some lunch and then wanted to do some shopping. Bridge Cafe was mentioned. Are their any other recommendations? We also had planned to go to Century 21 but after reading the recent thread don't know how much we'll find there. What other shopping is in the area? Had thought about going to the Lower East Side Tenement Museum but didn't want to buy tour tickets ahead of time because she's not 100% sure of her schedule. Any recommendations for the area would be great since I know it is quiet on a Saturday. Thanks.

ttt - I really NEED some shopping info! LOL

Hi Paula...... me again, lol.
Well actually Saturday is not quiet in lower Manhattan, tons of tourists and all the stores are open, so there is a bit of shopping, and Century 21 would be worth a stop. Also you might want to stop at St. Paul's Chapel on Broadway. It is the site used by all the rescue workers after 9/11 and it has a wonderful tribute to all those who took part in the efforts on 9/11 and long after. The Bridge Cafe is just a couple of blocks away from Pace and it's a cute restaurant under the Brooklyn Bridge. Chinatown is also very close and lots of good restaurants there as well. Shopping on Canal St is fun, I'll bet your daughter would enjoy that. From there you might walk up Broadway lots more shopping as you head toward the Village. Daffy's is one of my favorite stops just a couple of blocks up from Canal St. Alot of the larger stores and probably most of the museums will be closed on Sunday because it is Easter, but most of the restaurants will be open. You might want to hit Macy's for the Annual Flower Show. I was there a couple of days ago and it is really beautiful this year. You are going to have a great time in the city, we are expecting nice weather this weekend, I heard. |
If you like exploring interesting bookstores, the Strand Book Annex is on Fulton Street, three blocks east of Broadway and St. Paul's Chapel.
Also, there's always the South Street Seaport at the end of Fulton. Enjoy! |
wantsomesun - You are being so helpful today-thanks so much. We went to St. Paul's in 2003 - don't know if they have more there now but we can check it out. We will definitely go into Century 21 but neither my DD or I are the type to fight through crowds for a bargain. We'll definitely check out the shoes and purses.
Gekko - Thanks for the Strand Book recommendation, we both love bookstores. Could probably spend all our time there. I am planning on going to Macy's myself while my DD is busy with her auditions. Two years ago we were there at Easter and never had time to stop in. We were so busy doing all the first time tourist things for my younger daughter. This trip will be more relaxed. |
So.......spill the beans....how did the auditions go? What else did you guys get to see in the city? How was your trip.....uptown?
Thanks again for taking the time to stop by and meet the kitties. Let me know if you are coming this way again. |

wantsomesun - I sent you an e-mail last night (Sunday) and also answered on the other thread about "nice to meet you". We had a wonderful time, the auditions were great and we appreciated your time and hospitality. Let me know if you didn't receive my other messages.
