One more last minute dining question - Bainbridge Island, WA
Hello -
I am planning a ferry ride to Bainbridge Island during my upcoming trip to Seattle. I am now thinking that I may take the ferry ride around dinnertime and just have a nice dinner on Bainbridge Island. Can anyone recommend a restaurant, trying to stick to no more than $50 for one person? I'm pretty open to all kinds of food but am not a big meat or steak eater. Thanks, |
Hi there - I live on Bainbridge and it is a great spot to visit. We've had some beautiful weather lately and a ferry ride over is a great way to take in some of our amazing scenery.
Several good spots to eat on the island. Cafe Nola - has outdoor dining and a great menu - food is consistently good. Right in the heart of town. San Carlos - really good, exotic Mexican and fabulous margaritas. Doc's Marina Grill - wonderful outdoor seating area where you can view the marina. My favorite item there is a fabulous cheeseburger - but you can find some good fish and pasta that should suit your taste. Four Swallows - a bit upscale - in an old house in the heart of town - really wonderful food - fabulous wines - great service. "The Pub" - also the Harbor Public House - no kids - great outdoor deck - wonderful cocktails / beers / wine and a good menu with several organic and healthy options. We have a wonderful ice cream shop on the island - Mora - which features several seasonal / interesting flavors (Lavender / Green Tea, etc.) - fun to eat an ice cream and walk around town taking in the great shops and galleries. Enjoy your visit and please let me know if any more questions. |
These all sound great. Courtneycwo, do you think Bainbridge would be fun for 12- and 13-year-old girls?
|
Thanks courtney, this list is wonderful.
Where is the ice cream shop? Is it close to where the ferry drops you off? |
Hello! Mora Ice Cream is located in the heart of town (Winslow). When you walk up the hill from the boat, you'll want to walk down Winslow Way - which is where all of the action is :) Mora is tucked down a side street - once you've hit the Blackbird Bakery (Winslow Way), take a right and you'll run into it.
12 - 13 year old girls - if they like to shop - lots to see and do. Sweet Deals is a great shop in in Winslow - really great prices - fun accessories - very young and cute. Also - Kate and Kennedy - Blinx - Zia. For high end stuff (Prada / Chanel, etc.) there is the Adam and Eve boutique. If they like to make jewelry there is the Bead Garden which is a lot of fun. Bath Junkie - they can make their own soaps, shampoos. Wildernest if they are outdoorsy. I think that it is fun to wander through - check out the galleries - grab an ice cream or a coffee - walk through the marina and waterfront park. I hope that you have a ball! |
Thanks Courtney,
They are not high-end kids but would probably like the jewelry or soap making--that's pretty cool! We wpuld be going next spring if it works out. |
