One Day in Seattle
 

We will have 1 full day in Seattle. What is not to miss? (we will not have a car) Thanks.

Just did a day and a half in Seattle w/o a car and saw a LOT. Stay downtown so you are walking distance to everything. Take the monorail to Seattle center for the Space needle and the music center - both are "musts". Then take the monorail back and walk over to Pikes Place Market - you can spend as much or as little time theer as you want. Be sure to wander through some of the alleys and streets in the surrounding blocks too. Just downhill from the market is the Aquarium - or if you have time take a cruise on the sound. There is much more to see - but with only one day you probably won't be able to squeeze in anything else.

In one day we were able to take the Underground Tour, wandered thru the market at Pike's, people watched at the space needle and took the last Duck Tour of the day. We missed a lot but hope to return.

In one afternoon we went to top of Space Needle and saw the 'locks' and fish ladders where the salmon jump and we drove around Lake Union. I'm sure that with a whole day, you could add Pike's Place Market and the music center, possibly even the Underground Tour. Things are generally close together and the transportation system is quite friendly (free within the predominant business/tourist areas).

You don't say what time of year you'll be here but some suggestions would be to start your day down by Pike Place Market by having breakfast at Cafe Campagne in Post Alley. After breadfast wonder around Post Alley and Pike Place Market. <BR><BR>If you are into art see what the exhibit is at the SAM, 2 blocks from the market. Or head down to the waterfront and check out some of the piers. Or grab a bus on 1st and head into Pioneer Square to take the underground tour or better yet check out the galleries and old bars/cafes.<BR><BR>Head back to Westlake Center, grab the monorail to Seattle Center. If the day is clear go up the Needle for a cocktail and a fantastic view of the mountains. Seattle center has the EMP museum if you like music, Science center if you like that or the food court at the center house if your hungry!<BR><BR>Ride the Duck tours start on 5th which is just east of the Needle. This is a great, fun way to see Seattle without a car.<BR><BR>Then pick a very "Seattle" restaurant for dinner. Dahlia Lounge, Wild Ginger, Metropolitan Grill, Chez Shea or the Brooklyn would all top my list. All are downtown, you should make reservations.<BR><BR>Have fun!
