One day hike in Southern Adirondacks
My wife and I (active in our 50s) will be returning to Michigan from a stay in Cape Cod and want to spend 2 nights and a day (Sept. 18) in the southern Adirondacks, to hopefully hike for a day in the mountain area. Where do we stay and does someone have an idea for a hike?

I don't have personal knowledge yet of day hikes, but I have several guide books on my nightstand and will definitelky be doing a few hikes between now and Sept 18.
If you don't get any good replies, repost this message as summer progresses and I'll try to chime in with 1st hand info. www.adk.org is a great resource for hiking in the area. I recommend you stay in Saratoga Springs for a balance of accessibility to the Adirondacks, and nice town amenities like good restaurants. |

If you want to stay as close to I-90 as possible, you could try Lake George Area. Then South back to I-90, or cut the corner using Route 8 to Utica.
You could even head further North if you are going through Canada to MI. There is hiking throughout the Adirondack region, plenty to choose from in the LG area. Might be just a bit early for foliage, but fantastic time to hike. |
Thank you for helping us out! The resources suggested will be especially helpful.
