Omni Royal Orleans - Balcony question

Going to New Orleans in May and staying at the Omni Royal Orleans. Can anyone that has stayed there recommend whether it is worth it to pay extra for a King-Balcony room (versus a King Deluxe room)? I understand that the balcony rooms each have a table chairs on the balcony overlooking the street.

I don't know what the price difference in the rooms would amount to, but having a balcony in the Quarter can be quite entertaining. If you are looking for some peace and quiet, I'd opt for a room with no balcony. Have fun!

Splurge for the balcony. The rooms are larger than a regular deluxe (I used to work there!) and you can get either a 2nd or 4th floor balcony. I'd prefer second, but the fourth floor is not as noisy. Either way, it's not too bad simply because the Omni is off of that crazy end of Bourbon.

Definitely go for the Bourbon Street balcony! When you're ready to "people watch" you have one of the greatest seats available!! We always stay at the Inn on Bourbon and thoroughly enjoy the sights you can enjoy from a chair.
Hi Meg, thanks again for all your help.

Cindy, the Omni is a block away from Bourbon. It's between Chartres and Royal.

My husband started his hotel career at the Royal Orleans. It is not on Bourbon, but at the corner or St. Louis and Royal. The Royal Sonesta, where he also worked (initially both hotels were owned by Sonesta Hotels) is on Bourbon.

A balcony would be nice but there isn't the activity there that there is on Bourbon--a plus or a minus, depending on what you are looking for. Great hotel, though!

Hi John,
Yep I know where the Omni/Inn on Bourbon is, I was just referring to how enjoyable it is to have a balcony room - no matter what hotel you're staying at!

Wow - Thanks for all the replies, especially from someone who worked at the hotel and was familiar with the rooms (John). I think I will definitely splurge for the balcony room.

Just today I booked the ROyal Sonesta for two nights in April. Any opinions on this hotel. Thought that since AAA rated it 4 stars that I would be safe in obtaining a 'decentn' lodging. Thanks.
