Omni in Charlottesville
I got a fairly decent rate at the Omni in
Charlottesville. It looked nice on their
website but I just read that it didn't have
a good reputation. Does anybody know if
the Omni is a decent place to stay?

hi Diane. We stayed there 2 summers ago and thought it was wonderful. It's right downtown, walking distance to UVA. Moderately new with a nice, open restaurant in the lobby. Rooms were very nicely furnished. Kids and adults alike approved! Good luck! Pam

I stayed there a few years ago when in C'ville for business, and thought it was nice. Lovely lobby area, very centrally located off this downtown mall area. I am not sure how good the restaurant is, but there are quite a few good restaurants within walking distance. Be sure to stop by the Michie Tavern on the way to Monticello.

Diane: the Omni is a decent place in a great location for action. You are within walking distance of a whole bunch of stuff. Day or night. It's right next to an ice rink if you like that. It's on one end of the downtown mall which is chock full of activity (shops, restaurants). If you are going to be there on a Friday night, be sure and put on your walking shoes and walk to the other end for Fridays After Five - free concert outdoors which draws everyone (5pm-8pm). Food and drink for sale.

Stay at 200 South Street Inn or The Inn at Court Square. Both are elegant inns that are just as conviently located as the Omni. Even if you end up staying there, there are too many good restaurants downtown to waste any of your meals eating at the Omni.

I don't know anything about the Omni but I was pleased with the Hampton Inn and Suites on West Main. When I called the Tourist center asking for newest & most convenient hotels they recommended it and the Marriotte Courtyard right up the street. It was very convenient to UVA.
