Olympic National Park
Hi, need some input on my itinerary so far...
Arrive Seatac at 8:30p Overnight in Beaverton to break up the drive at night? Drive to Lake Crescent next morning - Marymere Falls Trail and Moments in Time Trail Lunch at Sol Duc lodge - hike to Sol Duc Falls Drive to La Push and check out the beaches and relax or go straight to Hoh Rainforest back to La Push Overnight at Quileute Oceanside Resort Wake up early and do Rialto beach, hole in the wall. Hoh if we couldn't get to it the day before and Ruby Beach. Dinner at Salmon House or the lodge? Overnight at Quinault River Inn Quinault Rain Forest Loop -Maple Glade Trail Here is my problem, will I need another night in Quinault? We are not sure how much time we need there. I love hiking green rainforest trails like the trails you would see in the Redwoods and would like to know all the best and easy trails since I only have a short time. We will be driving to Portland or Mt. St. Helens from there depending on how much time we need at Mt. St Helens. We were planning 2 nights in San Juan Islands and would have to do 1 night in San Juan instead, not sure if we will have enough time or how many days most people plan there. Also can anyone recommend the best beach at sunset? Thank you!! |
Seattle has moved its rental car facility offsite, with the result that it will take you longer to get on the road. On our trip last fall, it was nearly an hour from the time we got our luggage until we were motoring out of the airport. Given your 8:30p arrival, you might not get on the road until almost 10pm. You might consider staying at an airport hotel and getting an early morning start.
I'm not placing Beaverton in my mind, all I think of is Beaverton, Oregon - nowhere near your route to the Olympic National Park from Seattle. |
Oops I mean Bremerton. I think its about an hour away.
|
Marlene, where are you flying from, when you arrive in Seattle?
I live on the East Coast and fly to the West Coast about every other year -- and one thing that always distracts me is that 10pm on the West is 1am on the East. I thus try to avoid driving after I arrive on the West until the next morning. Even an hour-long drive to Bremerton could be a problem if you're having trouble staying awake. Just a thought. |
I'll be coming from California, about a 2 hour flight.
|
The driving at night isn't a problem, we're usually up late anyway. I wasn't sure if Bremerton was a good stop along the way.

Our Favorite Trails (most of them you include)
Sol Duc Falls Rialto to Hole in the Wall(do this whenever lowtide is) Marymere Falls Hall of Moss Trail(at Hoh)(trees aren't as nice as Redwoods, but the moss and greenery is better, IMOP) We really enjoyed James Maya Whale Watching Tours at SJI. Your missing Hurricane Ridge, which is a nice part of Olympic |
