Olympia, Washington, what is there to do?

We will be in Olympia, Washington for one Saturday night without a car.
Is there anything we should see or do?

(we will be staying at the red lion)

Olympia has a charming downtown with an active cultural life; however, if you stay at the Red Lion you will be stranded at an inconvenient location by a business park. It looks like a night of TV for you.

It's easy to get downtown from the Red Lion on Intercity Transit route 43. You should visit the Capitol building. If possible, walk the wonderful trail along the Deschutes River. Traditions free trade shop downtown has some great things. I like walking around Capitol Lake. The Farmers Market is terrific if it's open. Don't stay in your hotel room.

We walked from the Red Lion around the lake to the little water park in the center of town. It was a hot day so we went through the water with the rest of the people in town.
We browsed the antique stores. Found the natural water spout on 5th street and filled up our water drinking bottles. Found a fun little record and also a book store. Walked by the marina.
We ate a great pizza!
Enjoyed the locals, and, enjoyed the
beautiful view of the capital building in the early evening.
Olympia is a nice little town to visit.
