Chin up, Olive! We're all pulling for your daughter and you. It all goes back to good soon enough-- you'll see. And make sure you have time to yourself to take care of yourself-- it will help you and your daughter.

Hugs! >:D<

Dear Olive: Last night on the "Freaky Friday Rants & Raves" post, I read about your daughter's surgery. I don't know you & I don't know your daughter but I feel as if I do. So, I am sending my best regards.
(It seems more than a little weird to sign this "Wow" & weirder still to not sign it.)
Anyway...take care & hang in there & know that lots of people here are thinking of you & your daughter.

:)! Thank you, thank you!! What sweet cyber friends. She is out of surgery, in recovery, and progressing very well according to her surgeon. Her husband says they found no enlarged nodes in her neck and hopefully it was caught early enough that it was still confined to her thyroid. I feel as if an ENORMOUS burden has been lifted...one that grew increasingly heavy from January on with each test they did. It has been the longest month and a half imaginable. Well...that's over and it's gone and from now on, it's a coast downhill. She's young and she's in great shape...I have every expectation that she will be OK...still it has been undoubtedly the most frightening and traumatic thing we've faced as a family. Like everyone, it wasn't going to happen to us! I hope this can be a bit of a lesson, too...as young and as healthy as we may be, STAY TUNED to our bodies! I didn't push the issue of her having it seen to right away as I truly never believed it could be cancer. Nope...never again will I be that complacent!

Rj, we'll concentrate the good vibes on your sister too, and thanks for your words earlier in Freaky Friday--it was helpful to see that you do come out on the other side of this bad dream. The positive spot you've found is my goal and I'm much closer just with the surgery behind us and the initial good results. Thanks for the caring you all. It does mean alot, even in cyberspace!

OliveOyl, as my own Mom used to say to me whenever I would go off to travel w/my backpack on my back in my younger days, "go with god". You have alot of positive thoughts heading to Phoenix w/you.

I am happy your daughter is doing well. I had this same surgery over 20 years ago and I have been doing great ever since. I am sure she will do well too. Stay strong - all will go well.

Virtual flowers to her!!

Guess I hadn't checked out last week's Freaky Friday thread so this was news to me. Sounds like things are going well. God bless.

poochie Mar 2nd, 2004 12:45 PM

Olive Oyl,
I'm thinking positive thoughts and prayers of health and strength for you, your daughter, and the rest of your family.

rjw_lgb_ca Mar 2nd, 2004 03:44 PM

Olive, glad to hear the surgery went well! Your daughter is going to do just fine.

My sister got some distressing news on her case: a slightly swollen lymph node as well as the spot on her lung. It means a more aggressive fight than we had hoped. But we have her otherwise good health and youth (41) on our side, and I'm confident. It isn't going to be much fun, but we are going to jump this hurdle, and we will NOT be defeated! Please keep my sister in your good thoughts.... :)

rjw, sending all the prayers and good vibes for your sister.
regards mimi
