"Old South" wedding near San Jose?

I told my friend that I would ask about an Old South type wedding. Her son has his heart set on a wedding with an Old South type look/feel-big mansion, gardens, little lake or at least some water on the property). He wants it in the San Jose (CA) area-or at least within 50-100 miles from there-so his friends can come w/o too much driving.
I don't think this will be possible to find.
(This is not the same post as someone asking for an Old South wedding-in the SOUTH!!)
I think he will have to do a winery or ocean view wedding but an old mansion and gardens, etc. is what he wants.....
Any ideas?
Thank you for any help!
Shadow

Shadow,

I recently went to a wedding at the Hayes Mansion somewhere near San Jose. I recall it was a large, white colonial mansion with beautiful landscaping. You might want to try an online search. Hope this helps.

I believe Villa Montalvo in Saratoga will do weddings. I'm not sure that it fits the "old south" theme, but it's a beautiful old mansion with beautiful gardens and would be a nice place for a wedding. Easy commute from San Jose, just next door.

I believe the Hayes Mansion is in Campbell, close to San Jose. Villa Montalvo in Saratoga is another great suggestion. Also, Mirassou Vineyards has a beautiful setting and hosts weddings at either their winery located between San Jose and Monterey, or their champagne cellars in Los Gatos. Do a google search and you'll find more info. I believe there are even websites with wedding info on the bay area.

Villa Montalvo is a beautiful choice although there is no lake. There are several mansions that rent out for weddings and events up the pennisula in the South Bay as well, I think in the San Mateo area. There are several local guide books in the bookstores such as "Here comes the Guide" that have different mansions featured for weddings in the Bay Area. You might want to check it out.

Shadow, try Maison du Lac in the Santa Cruz Mountains. There's no mansion, but there is a small lake. I attended a wedding there last summer and it was a beautiful setting. Mother of the bride was very happy with all the services. I think they limit the number of weddings there to insure quality. They probably book up very early.

http://www.herecomestheguide.com/sit...tm?site_id=720

Just noticed that the site above is an "event location" site, so by clicking around you may find something suitable.

If it's a small wedding, you might want to tell your friend about the Rengstorff Mansion at Shoreline Park in Mountain View. It's an old Victorian mansion with a lovely, restored interior and gardens in the front and rear for weddings. It's also sited near the park's lake. You can check it out at www.cgsd.com/Mtn_View/Park.html.
