Old Lahaina Luau or Wailea Marriott Luau?

This August I am traveling to Maui with a party of 6. (We are staying in Wailea.) One of the things we would like to while there is attend a luau. After much research we have narrowed down our options to either the Old Lahaina Luau or the Wailea Marriott Luau, called Honua'ula. Between the two, which would you recommend? Has anyone ever been to either of these luau's? What was your opinion of the luau? We would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

traveler1234:
Last June we did Old Lahaina Luau and loved it. Have not heard anything about your other choice not sure if it would make a differance in driving from where you'll be staying to Lahaina. My suggestion do a search here on search box write Maui Luau's should get all the information you need, good luck and enjoy your trip.

We really liked the Old Lahaina Luau; be sure to book it before your trip because they sell out in advance.

If you want a good variety of Polynesian dances & a fire knife dancer, then Wailea Marriott Luau is better.

I've been to Old Lahaina Luau twice, once with my husband and once with my 28-year-old daughter. We all loved it. I recommend it. I haven't been to the one at Marriott.

Feast of Lele and U'lalana are two other fun options in Lahaina for an evening/show.

We liked the Luau at the Marriott. They had a fire knife dancer that was neat. The food was also pretty good (we like pretty simple food). I would suggest getting the premium seats- not only do you sit up front, you also get to go to the buffet first! When we were ready for seconds, some tables were just getting their first plate!

The location for the luau is stunning when the sun sets. Plus, Lahaina is pretty far. It was nice to be able to relax with a few drinks and not have to worry about abot driving a long distance.

I went to Maui this past August on my honeymoon, and we went to the Old Lahaina Luau. I'd heard it was the best, and we definitely we not disappointed.

My sister, mother and I stayed at the Grand Wailea in February and went to the luau at the Marriott and really enjoyed it. My sister had been to both and liked the Marriott better. She thought the Old Lahaina was too much for her kids ages 2, 5 and 7. She thought the Marriott was more laid back especially if you have children. Getting the premier seating is really worth it. We were able to sit in front and felt like we were in the middle of the action.

Also don't know where you are staying but the Marriott was a short walk along the beach from our hotel and we were given quite a show by the whales while we waited. To bad you won't be seeing those in August.

Have fun

I've been to both and prefer the one in Wailea, although both were enjoyable. For me, the deciding factor would depend on where I'm staying. We usually stay in the Kihei or Wailea area, and I don't like that drive back from Lahaina in the dark.
