Okefenokee Swamp: Is it worth a detour?

We like swamps. Is the Okefenokee worth a detour when we drive from Savannah to Atlanta?

Has anybody been there lately?

No, but I'd go for sure if I was in the area. Swamps are fascinating places. A shorter detour from Savannah to Atl that may be up your alley is here.

Yes, it is worth it if you like swamps. Hubby and son are there right now for a 3 night scout camping trip. I can post more details of what they did when they return. We went about 10 years ago, and I recall think it was a fascinating place (had not been to that large of a swamp before).

Here are some links for the Okefenokee swamp.

I previously worked with a single guy who liked visiting swamps. He probably went to the Okefenokee 20+ weekends a year. Of course, he eventually found a girlfriend who hated swamps. lol
