OK, Owen....help me out here with NYC parking!!

If we come in Lincoln tunnel (and want to park near 200 block of W 34th St), do we stay in the far right lane?? You have helped with other NYC issues, so thank you for any good advice...we are so excited to be coming to New York.

There are signs for "uptown" and "downtown" after you exit the tunnel...head "downtown" to get to 34th. It should be towards the right.

Not to tread on Owen's turf, but he can correct me if i'm wrong...

You need to enter the right most tube of the tunnel (and if you're asking this question, i'll assume you're not used to NYC driving, so i'd suggest using the toll booths on the most right hand side to avoid having to get over afterwards)... and then yes, you want to stay towards the right as you exit the tunnel.

During rush/busy hours, the lanes are often blocked off when departing the tunnel, and those in the right most tube MUST go the right (downtown) and those in the center tube MUST go to the left (uptown).

So to be safe, enter the tunnel in the furthest tube on the right.

You really don't want to park near the 200 block of West 34th Street. That's right in the heart of a congested shopping district (Macy's et al). Your best bet is to park west of that area (i.e., closer to the Lincoln Tunnel than your destination).

I appreciate the replies...we will hit the tunnel around 9:30am Sat so traffic shouldn't be too bad?...and our hotel is in the 200 block of 34th st and they say a garage is right across the street, so wanted to get as close to Hotel as possible..

Susan - early is good, definitely. There will be less traffic.
