Ohio -- Best Country Towns

Any suggestions for quaint, rustic towns in Northwest Ohio? I'm looking for a location to host the quintessiantial late summer picnic...the grounds of an inn, a meadow, park etc.

Thank you!!

Cheers, Jennifer

Anywhere on the Maumee River south of Toledo.

Jennifer:

Archbold in Fulton county is home to Sauder Village-a restored pioneer village with a hotel and dining facilities. The town iself has a few shops and places to eat.

There are also several nice metro parks near Toledo-Oak Openings, Sidecut and Wildwood if you're looking for a more picnic like setting.

You might look at Ada, it's a college town (Ohio Northern) and there is a lovely park that even has bbq pits and picnic tables.

There are small B&B's in the area as well, so you might google that for more info.

Hope this helps.

Another option would be Grand Rapids (OH not MI). It's on the Maumee River has several small shops and a few places to eat. You can take canal boat rides There is a famous inn/spa but I can't remember the name right now. There is also a metro park maybe 10 miles east on US 24 that's on the river (Farnsworth) as well as a couple of smaller parks.

Bowling Green OH is a mid sized college town.

Both Waterville and Grand Rapids, OH have parks on the Maumee River. Both towns are also fairly quaint.
