O'hare to Michigan Ave in Chicago

HI !

I have a friend who wants to take a cab to The Art Institute, from O'hare Airport. Personally, I think the Train would be faster and cheaper.

Does anyone know the difference?

A cab will run about $40-60 depending on the traffic. A CTA full fare is $2.25. The time factor largely depends on the time of arrival and the traffic.

Quick answer: You're right.
Traffic from O'Hare can be horrible, particularly at rush hour, meaning the train is definitely the way to go unless your friend has a disability. At best, you'd save about 25 minutes each way by driving. Not worth the time risk or price difference in my opinion.

The Blue Line will take about 45-60 minutes from ORD to Jackson. When you exit at Jackson, you'll be at Federal Plaza. Walk north on Dearborn across the plaza to Adams and turn right. The Art Institute is 3 blocks.

If you'll be taking public transit elsewhere, you can buy day passes which allow unlimited rides on all CTA trains and buses for a 24-hour period. You can purchase a 3-day pass from the vending machine at the O'Hare rail station for $14. The machine accepts cash and plastic. If you'll only be here the one day, there is a currency exchange in the lower level of the Hilton that sells 1-day passes for $5.75.
