O'Hare - Left luggage

Hi,

Does anyone know if there is a left luggage place in O'Hare?

Thanks, Laura

Not sure what you mean...

There is an area in luggage pickup where they keep unclaimed bags. I don't know for how long.

I do not think there are lockers any more if you want to leave your lugggage there...I believe there was pre 9/11.

If your luggage is missing, call your airline.

Hi,

It's for an extra bag that I'll have from travelling when I go in April, but I won't need anything in it while I'm in Chicago, so it would be very handy if I could leave it at the airport and pick it up again when I leave.

Maybe you can find the information you want by looking through this website:

Hi,

I tried that but couldn't find anything on it. I also tried phoning but only could get a machine!

Not sure how "kosher" this is, but when I had to spend a whole day in Chicago (I arrived in the morning from Florida and picked up an overnight flight back to Dusseldorf that night), I went over to adjacent airport hotel (the Hilton? I forget), told the bell captain I was there for breakfast and asked them to hold my luggage (one large, heavy suitcase). I did eat breakfast there (a bit overpriced, but...) but then left my luggage there while I went in to Chicago for the day. The bell guys didn't care, I tipped the first $5 for storing one bag and tipped the other guy another $5 when I picked it up later that day. No problems. If there had been a cheaper, easier way to check my luggage for the day, I would have done it, but there wasn't, as far as I could tell.

This was post 9/11, FYI.

O'Hare's FAQ page says "Due to security measures, there are no luggage storage facilities at this time."

So I would guess that you are out of luck.

Even in the best of times, O'Hare has shipped luggage OUT often after less than a day. They are simply too big and too much is going through without HOLDING anything there.

My BIL is an ex-baggage supervisor. He had 15 years at O'Hare and left last year. Some vendors/airlines actually have "lost" luggage that is moved out and not even held there for pick up.
