Ogunquit Motel Choices
Hi, I had asked a few questions to visit Ogunquit end of June which didnt materialize but have been keen enough to visit, so its last minute but we have 4 nights, 5 days including travel end of July to visit. My husband, 1 year old baby & myself will be driving from NYC. Owing to all the fodorites suggestions, I have researched & called most of the lodgings. Knowing well that its peak peak season & I am late the ones I know through fodors & tripadvisor eg Beachmere ( my first choice ), anchorage, terrace by the sea & so many more arent available...........ofcourse. I have the option of:
1) Lightship Bldg at Anchorage 2)Seachambers - involves changing rooms mid stay 3)Meadowmere 4)The Grand Hotel 5)Riverside Motel 6)Seafarer Motel Our main priority is walkable to Perkins cove & Marginal Way if possible. The beach we may , may not go & we will drive if we do. The only other priority is a balcony or another room ( thats why grand hotel ) as my baby sleeps by 8 & atleast we can hang out , eat dinner etc with our monitor close by. Having a balcony with an ocean view would be great but just the balcony alone will do.We are willing to spend upto $300 per night. I have reviewed these hotels briefly but am running out of time to decide whether they are worth it or will have to keep Ogunquit for another well planned time. Thanks in advance, I knew all that only because of Fodorites. ;);) |
Did you check the Dunes? We stayed two nights in June. They have a variety of accomodations. Our king "motel room" was actually a bedroom plus LR room. Both rooms had a tv. Both rooms had exterior doors. Outside lots of grass and nice landscaping, two adirondack chairs, patio table. Looks like old fashioned cottages. Some are actually cottages with kitchen facilities. View of ocean is semi blocked by huge dune. One mile walk to beginning of Marginal Way. On trolley route. Very quiet. Set back far enough from Rt 1 that noise wasn't a problem.

With Perkins Cove/Marginal Way as a priority, I would opt for the Riverside - it is right on the water -in Perkins Cove - close to ocean view. IIRC all the other options you list, are at best, across the streat from the ocean.

I stay at the seachambers at least once a year. Love the pool and the sipping coffee on the adirondack chairs or a glass of wine on the wharf watching the ever changing tide and the crowded beach at high tide.

Thanks, Dunes is not available. Can anyone tell me about Seafarer or Meadowmere? Thanks Froderick, you had told me about Seachambers 2 months ago which is why I even know about it.Also Retired Vermonter hasnt replied here but hope he does.I really need to book this week.Any more suggestions? Thanks

They are both on Rt 1 and I personally wouldn't choose either, but they will be more affordable and could give you the option of a suite which can be nice for evenings and naptimes.

you might look into pink blossoms - they have an ever growing amount of property with lots of different options

Rechecked all & so far even less than the options listed above are available.Pink Blossoms looks good but expensive.Have booked Seafarer for now, 2 BR suite so atleast I am sure we r going. Will keep checking if anything else opens up.If not will post back on Seafarer when we return. Thanks for it all.

I think traveling with a baby and having a suite is a great choice.
