Off strip hotels

We want to visit Las Vegas in March but do not want to stay at the BIG hotels, I read an article some time ago about the OTHER Las vegas, good hotels at resonable prices, any ideas anyone ?

Before booking an off strip hotel to save money, consider where you want to go while you're there. It's difficult and time consuming enough to get around if you stay on the strip. Those properties are way larger and a lot farther apart than they appear on a map. Just getting across Las Vegas Blvd can be quite a hike. Getting to and from your off strip hotel could be quite time consuming and/or expensive, especially if you use taxis.

Have you actually checked rates for March? They are really, really, low this year.

You could check various websites for hotel discount codes, such as www.smartervegas.com, though there will be more and better discount codes as your dates get closer.

There are several hotels in the Station Casinos group (http://www.stationcasinos.com/). They are all of good to very good quality, all have good resteraunts and buffets, and I believe all of them have multiple pool areas.

I stay at Palace Station when I go into town. It's on Sahara, just west of I-15 and about 4 long blocks from Las Vegas Blvd. If you won't have a car, it also runs shuttle buses to the strip 2 or 3 times and hour.

The rates at the big Strip hotels are so low right now you really need a good reason to not stay at one of them.

I've stayed at the big strip hotels but my off strip choice is the Westin Casaurina.

Most of the off strip Hotels are pretty seedy and draw a crowd that I wouldn't want to hang with..(not all of them)
Prices are so low in Vegas for the 4-5* hotels that I don't understand why you want to go that route..

Palms is off the strip along with the Rio and they are great hotels.
Downtown is another option for you and I like the Golden Nugget.

Also, how far do you really need to be off the Strip? The Westin mentioned above is less than one main block east of the the Strip. Or the Trump, which is less than one main block west. That's a 5* hotel that's having rates under $90 now.

Yes, should have stated that The Westin is a block off the strip and located mid strip.

One friend of ours loves staying at the Westin since they have a small casino but was paying around $250 a night..maybe its cheaper these days.
Can't beat the Wynn for $109 or Trump for $90!

We stayed at the Renaissance, right behind Wynn. Pretty good. Don't know what the price is now.

ksucat, where did you see Wynn for $109? Is that a weekday or weekend price? I am very interested.

I'm on the e-mail list but I saw that mid-week they have $109 a night on there website..
Sign up with e-mail..you get freebies, deals..etc.
It is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed out..the beds, linens, tons of pillows with 1,000 thread count sheets..
Food is really good too.
