Off Broadway
Any suggestions for current off/ broadway productions.
|
I don't know what you are interested in, but you might check out www.broadwaybox.com. They have some reviews of both Broadway and off-Broadway shows and discounts to some of the shows. My husband and daughter went to see "Stomp" (off Broadway) last spring and I got them 1/2 price tickets from Broadway Box.

It helps to know who the audience is for the show. ;) Altar Boyz has been popular with pre teens and teens.

There are so many good to great things on Broadway right now, it's hard to believe, but there's not that much of note off Broadway at the moment apart from some of the long favorites (that have kids appeal) like Altar Boyz, Stomp, Blue Man Group, Fuerzabruta A few things that have started previews or will be opening that sound interesting are The Little Flower of East Orange, maybe From Up Here and The New Century. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/04/th...ows&st=nyt I agree you should try to get discounted tix using broadwaybox.com or theatermania.com or playbill.com etc. |
"The New Century", a series of plays by Paul Rudnick and starring Linda Lavin at the Mitzi Newhouse!
Until the end of April, I'd LOVE to see the Edward Albee directed production of his two classics "The Sandbox" and "The American Dream" at the Cherry Lane. And a second to "The Little Flower of East Orange" -- hey, it's Ellen Burstyn directed by Phillip Seymour Hoffman, it's got to be good. Right? Also "Crimes of the Heart" at the Laura Pels, directed by Kathleen Turner. |
Note: I see The American Dream and The Sandbox have been extended until May 17.

Thanks Patrick,
I"ll check it out! |
The Frogs or The Seagull at the Classical Stage Company

I saw "Little Flower of East Orange" at the Public theater this week. Ellen Burstyn and the rest of the cast were wonderful. It's quite heavy - dysfunctional family - with no occasional levity like in "August: Osage County." If you're up for a heavy story, you will enjoy it.

Also enjoyed "Dead Man's Cell Phone" with Mary Louise Parker - not sure if it's still playing.
