October Honeymoon

My fiance and I are trying to figure out our Honeymoon for mid October, and are having a difficult time choosing between Hawaii and the U.S. Virgin Islands. We're staying in the U.S. as he is from Ukraine, and we don't want to worry about a visa or re-entrance issues. I know October is the end of the hurricane season in the Carribean, but I'm not sure if Hawaii is going to be any less rainy. We both want more of a relaxing honeymoon rather than a really active/adventure honeymoon. Thoughts between the two? Any recommendations on what to stay away from or where to stay?

I don't know how much of a help I can be, but I'll at least get this to the top for you.

I have been to Oahu, Maui, St Thomas and St John, but in May, never October, so I can't comment on the weather issues. But, I can tell you that I recommend either Maui or St John due to your comment:

Oahu and St Thomas are great places, but both pretty busy, while I think you could find your own quiet stretch of beach pretty easily in Maui or St John. Both are beautiful--you really can't go wrong!

Good luck and happy planning :)

Maui would be a wonderful location.

We were on the Big Island of Hawaii last October, and we had wonderful weather!

Hawaii is wonderful in October- the water is still quite warm. It isn't particularly rainy unless you are in the eastern regions such as Hana on Maui, Hilo on Hawaii, or Princeville on Kauai. It can be a lower season in terms of costs of flights and hotels. Maui or Kauai would be great for relaxing honeymoons, but all the islands have their appeal. I think the Kona Village Resort on Hawaii is very nice, too, but pricey. www.konavillage.com
