October Hawaii Honeymoon
 
I'm planning our Honeymoon to Hawaii during the last week in October/first week of november- We've never been. I think I've narrowed it down to Kuaui/Maui. We've got appx. 11-12 nights. I've read through a lot of posts, and I'd like some opinions/advise on this "itinerary" -

1st 4 nites - Kauai Hyatt (Princeville weather??)
Next 3 nites - Maui Hyatt (Close to Lahaina for Halloween!)
Last 4 nites - Fairmont Kea Lani Maui (Quiet and relaxing before heading back home)

We're 27 and 31, like some nightlife, nothing crazy. I don't think we need all of the luxury of the 4 Seasons, but enjoy nice restaurants, etc. Are these good choices for hotels? Islands? Any advise would be truly appreciated. Thanks!

Sounds like a great trip, however, are you planning to do a lot of sightseeing in Kauai? Four days isn't a lot of time to explore this beautiful island. Regarding weather, the Kauai Hyatt is on the southern shore so the weather tends to be better, less rain. However, I highly recommend a drive to the north shore, Princeville, Hanalei, etc. Rain showers come and go but its still magical!

curious..how'd you find out about halloween in lahaina? it's a wild block party but worth the experience!
you chose good hotels. especially the kea lani! take a stroll at sundown along the ocean there past other resorts and also in the other direction. You won't view a better sunset! For dinner or lunch, the resorts in Wailea have wonderful restaraunts/pool bars and are open to anyone (not just guests). Talk to your hotels concierges about activites or sites...they are really quite knowlegable! There's a lot to do and see on Maui and Kauai is beautiful. You're going to have a blast!!

One bit of advice...you won't find any parking on Halloween in Lahaina...get a cab that night.

Most hotels offer a 5th night free package (did you check for vacation packages through pleasant holidays or aa.com?), you may want to consider 5 & 2 nights in Maui or even 2 nights on the Big Island. Same goes for Hyatt Kauai, hubby & I stayed on a 5th night free deal.

Thanks a lot for the great advice! I found out about Halloween in the Pleasant Holidays brochure. And that's a good idea about the 5th night free - I was actually looking into the Hyatt Island Hopper deal (7 night between the islands).
