Oceanfront condo in Seaside/Lincoln City/Cannon Beach

My husband and I are taking his grandmother to the coast around June 1. She'll pretty much be confined to the room so we wanted an oceanfront suite or condo where she could relax while we did a little sightseeing. Does anyone have a suggestion on an affordable oceanfront condo? We checked The Promenade because we love that place and have stayed there before, but they have jacked the prices up so high that we can't afford it anymore. Thanks for any suggestions.

There's the Inn at Spanish Head in Lincoln city - that's right on the beach. But we also really love "Dock of the Bay" on the Siletz Bay there in Lincoln City. You can often see the sealions swimming around and sunbathing on the other side of the bay - although binoculars make it a little nicer. www.dockofthebay-or.com/

Did you check the Shilo Oceanfront in Seaside? ***kim*** ((f))

I think you'll have a tough time finding oceanfront at that time of year for that price. This comes the closest of any that I know in Cannon Beach: http://www.schoonerscove.com/index.html. I've never stayed there, but it looks okay any time I've walked by.

The Shilo Oceanfront rooms for that date are $179.95. This is an oceanfront, fireplace, balcony room. :)

www.shiloinns.com is the website. This property is located right on the prom. They have a pool, jacuzzi, etc. and a pretty good oceanview restaurant. We've enjoyed Sunday brunch at this hotel and have stayed here a few times before we landed our beach cottage in Seaside! Good Luck and have fun! ***kim*** ((#))

Another place you may want to consider is the Seaside Inn B&B, www.seasideinnbandb.com I haven't stayed here, but have toured the property and some of the rooms. It's a very cozy, quaint place, somewhere I think an elderly person would enjoy! :)

The innkeeper was very nice and the property is located directly on the prom, down a bit from the Shilo.

We also have enjoyed a couple of stays at the Gilbert House, tho it is about a block or so from the beach. Let us know what you decide! ***kim*** ((#))

You need to check out the following place. My wife and I stayed here 2 years ago and had the best time. The people are incredibly nice and the rooms big. The sunsets are incredible.

I just returned from a bike ride on the prom and rode by the Inn of the Four Winds, beautiful property. You might want to consider this property.

It is beautiful here, but very, very windy!! We had a nice little seafood dinner at Norma's Ocean
Diner last night. It's great to be back on the coast again! ***kim*** ((#))

If you are interested in the Lincoln City area, there is a town about 12 miles south called Depoe Bay. It's quiet little community with several little shops and restaurants but located in the middle of Lincoln City and Newport which is nice since both areas have things to do. We stayed there in a two bedroom condo on the waterfront with a nice balcony. We actually saw whales just about everyday sitting on the balcony. It was very nice and the condos are immaculately clean (very important for me) The condos are fairly new and I think they book for a week instead of nightly which is quite common for condos.
Their website address is www.BluePacificVacationRentals.com. The webpage is great because it shows complete photos of the entire condo unit, bedrooms, kitchen, etc. Check it out and good luck!

Just returned from Seaside with the family and I highly recommend the Inn of the Four Winds. The large suites are nicely decorated with an extra bedroom, and great view of the ocean. The location was great too, located at the north end of the promenade.

The suite we had did not have a full kitchen, but was fine with a mini fridge, sink and microwave. They also welcome you with warm cookies! Would definately consider staying here again!

I was thinking about you last weekend, Babalu, as I was driving around in the pouring rain. Hope you managed a good weekend in Portland and at the coast in spite of the weather.

Glad you enjoyed the property! Did you by any chance see someone on a pink Del Sol beach cruiser riding by the place each day? We rode the prom each and every am, rain or shine! :)

Where did you end up eating? ***kim*** ((#))

If you noticed a little fussbot (demanding 4 yr ol boy with 8 yr old brother) you may have seen us! We got in some kite flying and sand castling on Sunday afternoon. Actually tried to hit the beach before we left on Tuesday morning but it was just too windy - my hat blew off twice and almost blew away.

Dinner at Bigfoot's was pretty good(though the ribs were just a little too saucey) and so was the clam chowder at Mo's in Cannon Beach.

Looking forward to the next opportunity to visit the coast again (hopefully in warmer and sunnier weather so I can just park myself on the beach).

Norma's Ocean Diner had some nice chowder and we really enjoyed our meal at the Wayfarer in Cannon Beach. :)

Did your kids get a chance to see Clark & Lewis the new seal pups at the aquarium? McKeown's in the Gilbert District had some really good food. It's very family-friendly and better than Pig N' Pancake. ***kim*** ((#))
