Oceanarium Restaurant

Has anyone ever eaten at the Oceanarium Restauraunt (The one in the Pacific Beach Hotel) in Waikiki? It seems kind of touristy, but it looked kind of fun for our 25th Anniversary dinner along with 2 18 year old girls. Anyone?

It is a really nice restaurant with the huge aquarium.

Thanks dusty, you seem to be answering all my questions. This is my second trip to Hawaii so I knew about the Shore Bird rstaurant as you said in the other post. I really enjoyed that place. Thanks for all the other info.

Marymg, the Oceanarium restaurant in the Pacific Beach hotel is nice. On Fri and Sat, though, they have a very limited menu as they have an extensive buffet. The buffet was good, but we didn't know when we went that we couldn't also order from the regular menu on those nights. Just an FYI for you.

Not a restaurant but there's an aquarium as window dressing on the north side of Kalakaua opposite the Royal Hawaiian Center (I think it's the DFS store). Anyway, it's two stories high and a staircase goes throught it in an acrylic tube.

We ate there about 6mos ago. Felt the food was better than average buffet food. (I remember prime rib and a couple different types of fish, all good, shellfish, crab.). The desserts were disappointing, I would have liked fancier desserts for the price(I enjoy sweets). Not an intimate, romantic place, there were many families there. The draw is the aquarium of course. The diver came into the aquarium and fed the ray and had it "pose",which was fun to see. If you request it in advance, they have her put a sign in the aquarium with a message for you, like "Happy Anniversary mary mg". Check the tourist mags when you get to Oahu, I seem to recall seeing coupons in there. And make a reservation to be on the safe side... we saw folks being turned away during prime dinner hour in the summer.

We always eat at the Oceanarium at the Pacific Beach Hotel when in Waikiki. It is consistant over the years. We usually go at an early time when they are feeding the fish, as it's fun to watch and relaxing.
