Ocean Water Temps beginning of Nov.

I am thinking about traveling to San Diego in the second week of Nov. Can anyone tell me what the average temp of the ocean is at that time of the year? Is it too cold for swimming. I am perfectly happy with 68-70 degree water as I am from NJ. Also, what about the weather in general at that time of year?
Thanks!

We visit San Diego each year over Thanksgiving. We always see surfers in the water but they are all wearing wet suits.

With the exception of last year, when we experienced a couple of quite chilly days, we have found the weather to be lovely, quite warm and sunny during the day. Certainly short sleeve weather. It does cool off in the evening especially if you are by the water. So dress in layers. It is a lovely time to visit and a real treat from the usual weather we have in the Midwest where we live.

The ocean is cold. It's cold in San Diego, in LA, in Santa Barbara, in Pismo Beach, in Carmel and even colder in Northern California! Surfer's here wear wetsuits year round... even right now in July. The weather in general? Now that's a toss up. You just never know. Come on out, rent a wetsuit and take what you get! There is plenty to do in San Diego, year round, rain or shine.

My Mom's cousin, Marianne, who lives in San Diego, stated more than once that the Atlantic is so warm compared to the Pacific. She stated that the Pacific's water temp is usually just high 50s, low 60s year around.
