Ocean rafting in Maui

Has anyone taken one of these trips from Maui to Lanai. Would appreciate any comments. Thanks, Laurie

Laurie, last August we took the Blue Water Rafting trip to the Kanaio coast. It's not from Maui to Lanai, but it was a lot of fun. They leave from the Kihei boat ramp very early, have all kinds of soft drinks and food, take you to see "recent" lava outflows and stop for snorkeling in Pelouse Bay and a couple of other places. The guides were hilariously funny and also good at giving instruction to those who had never snorkelled. You are very exposed to the sun, so in addition to sunscreen, you really need a light cover-up - possibly waterproof, because you can get wet if there's a good swell, or choppy waves. When you get on the boat, they put everyone's shoes in a mesh bag. Hope this is helpful.

Thanks for the reply Barbara-"Maui Revealed" says the ride is a blast but it's always nice to get first hand info. <BR>We'll defintely consider this trip. Thanks, Laurie

We did an ocean rafting trip in January. It was awesome! I think it was the same company that Barbara used- Blue Water Rafting. We did some whale watching, snorkeling and touring of Lanai. We went almost all the way around Lanai and got to see the various landscapes of the island. We stopped to snorkel in 3 different spots and saw lots of fish and a sea turtle. While on the boat, at one point, we had dolphins swimming along side! On the way back to Maui, we saw a mother and calf whale pretty close, and also had a papa whale swim right under the boat! It was a great trip!
