I have an opportunity to rent a place a few blocks off from the ocean on the southern end of town -- near 29th St. Will it be inconvenient to restaurants and the other amenities of the beach? Will the beach off the southern end of the boardwalk be public/lifeguarded? What is the atmosphere like on this end of town? Thanks in advance for any insights!

We rented a house 2 years ago on Asbury Ave, near 37th St, and next week will have a house on Asbury near 42nd St.

Both houses are 1 1/2 blocks from the beach, which was very good. I don't know how convenient 'a few blocks' will be.

All of the restaurants, etc, in this area, are near 34th st, which is convenient to 29th St. It is a short ride 'uptown' to the amusement areas.

The beach is lifeguarded. The atmosphere is very quiet, which is why we picked it. ((*))

can't give you hotel advice but HIGHLY recommend "Chatterbox" a restaurant that serves a delicious breakfast. I had belgian waffles with strawberries and whipped cream twice there - I was in heaven.
