OCEAN CITY MD, WHERE TO STAY AND WHAT PART OF THE BOARDWALK??
Anyone know of the hotel Park Place Hotel near 1st or 2nd street in Ocean City MD? Feedback please!! My friend booked it and I am not sure if I can even go yet. Also, We are few single 32 year old guys looking to go down to Ocean City. I was informed it's mostly a family/college age boardwalk/beach. Can someone or many of you give feeback on the "Scene/age group". Thanks!!!
What do you know about Ocean city MD? My friends want to go down there this weekend and stay at some place called Park Place Hotel (a steep $275/night) around 1st and 2nd street. I don't have too much interest since so far I've been told it's mostly families, teenagers and college kids. I've also been told it's more like AC without the casinos. They want to stay for three nights and it sounds like it could get boring pretty quickly. Any input? Thanks.

Go to Rehoboth Beach (26 miles north) instead and stay at the Sandcastle motel/hotel which is about $125/night last time I checked (2000). Heck of a lot cheaper and Rehoboth has a shopping area near the boardwalk. Lots of neat restaurants too. This beach is where D.C. residents go, more upscale than Ocean City, MD, and more for grown-ups.
If you still have your heart set on OC, MD, don't stay directly on the ocean but on the highway 2 or 3 blocks from the ocean. My family stayed overnight for about $149/night at a place 3 blocks from the ocean. $249/is way too much for a hotel room.

you know I'm not sure of what you want. There's a lot of activity in OC even for single 32 year old guys. You might try the action up at Seacrets on the bay in the evening and if you're looking to meet gals - that would be the place to go.
If you're looking to meet guys - then NO that won't be the place to go - you'd be better off in Dewey or Rehoboth

I don't get it. I have been to Rehoboth Beach twice in the last two years and have never observed outright gay behavior at the beach? Do you go up to people and ask if they are gay? I know there might be some shop owners who are, but public displays of affection from gay couples, I just don't see it.

Pete, PLEASE don't keep reposting forms of the same question.
You can search for your own name or e-mail address and just pull up the previous posts with the suggestins you've received so far. Then, just add another comment or question of your own as an answer. You WILL get more responses to that, you don't need to start from scratch each time!!
(and, as a suggstions, please stop with the "I'm going to meet girls" comments. A little unseemly for someone who keeps mentioning that he's 32...)

We've been to Ocean City 5 or 6 times. We generally just stay at the Comfort Inn near the boardwalk/amusement park. They are around $100 per nite on weekends and have a kitchenette in room. It's not luxurious but good location to Purple Moose and fun bars and the boardwalk.

Pete, OC is fun, here is what is has to offer: Nice clean beach, boardwalk with casual restaurants, amusement park, "beach-y" shops, mini golf, a beautiful national seashore close by, antique shops, and bars & pubs. I think it is fair to say that the majority of the visitors are family/college age, but there is something for everyone.
Also "day trips" are easy to Rohoboth, Lewes, or take the Ferry from Lewes to Cape May.
Your hotel price sounds very high - if you have time shop around.
Have fun!

Do not stay at the Fenwick Inn - it was filthy. I don't know if all smoking rooms are like this (we booked last minute and smoking was all that was available) but besides the lingering smoke smell, the lampshades had tobacco stains - the entire room looked like it was never cleaned. We even went out to buy air freseher. Fortunately, when we complained they switched our room which was better but not by much. The hallways were lined with day old room service trays. We checked out the next day and went to stay near the Assatague area.
If you love mini golf - you won't be disappointed.
