Oakland visit
Looking for suggestions for a place to stay for a few days in early February - it can be a B&B, motel, hotel - need something reasonably priced and clean, preferably 'close' to Oracle Arena - ie short taxi or bus ride
|
You don't really want to stay anywhere near the Arena. (Not many B&Bs in that are for sure :) )
There is a BART station right there so you could stay in lots of different areas. But what is your actual budget? Reasonably priced could mean anything. |
Like Janis says if you stay on a BART line you can take BART directly to the Arena and not have to actually stay in Oakland. Without a budget, it's hard to know a good recommendation though.

Courtesy ITA month-long search:
Prices for this route don't change that much throughout the month of February. Your options from most expensive to least (prices include all taxes & fees): 1) NON-STOP Vancouver to SFO on Air Canada or United for "about" CA$520 2) Vancouver to Oakland with layover in Seattle or Portland for "about" CA$410 on Alaska Air 3) Vancouver to SFO with layover in Seattle for "about" CA$400 on Alaska Air 4) NON-STOP Seattle to SFO on American Airlines, Delta, Virgin, United, or Alaska - all for about CA$220 5) NON-STOP Seattle to Oakland on American Airlines for about CA$130 The real question is whether the cheaper air fares from Seattle are worth the extra three hours drive (or MORE depending on border congestion) EACH WAY? |
many thanks bardo - that seems to cover all bases and I will gladly pass on the info to my b.c. friend
|
OK -I am sooooo confused :)
Bardo's post seems to have been helpful . . . but what does it have to do w/ what you asked?? Wast that meant for another thread? |
Why stay in Oakland, the Detroit of the West Coast? Stay somewhere nicer and go to the arena as needed.

|
actually, looking into hotels in downtown SF near the BART station (so we're on the same page for the acomodations)
|
I worked just across the street from the Oracle arena for 7 years, and I would never want to stay in that area.

He's not looking in Oakland anymore. The Hyatt Regency would be my choice. You didn't mention a budget, but rooms there can be had for under $200 especially on the weekends.
