Oakland Airport Transport

Can I reach The Lodge at Sonoma from the Oakland Airport with a shuttle? Oakland Airport Site lists 3 shuttle companies but no specific information on schedules and fares. Many thanks for any help.

Hi BJ-I just checked with super shuttle which is the company I have used alot over the years. You would need to book a van at a charter rate. For 2 people one way from Oakland airport to the Lodge at Sonoma it is $225 plus a 15% gratuity. Their website is www.supershuttle.com. I know you have asked as well about SFO and perhaps the Sonomaairporter will be less costly.

I'm wondering what you'd do when you get to the Lodge without a car? Do you have other transportation for Sonoma. I have stayed at the Lodge and it's a couple of miles from the town square. If you have other transportation then try Airpot Express for $20 one way adults. Here's a schedule from OAK:<BR><BR>http://www.airportexpressinc.com/schedule_oak_soco.html

I'm sorry, the above shuttle will not take you to the town of Sonoma just to Santa Rosa. That's not very helpful.

BJ, didn't you ask recently about shuttle service from SFO to Sonoma? Are you now planning on flying into Oakland? Suzie brings up a good point. In order to tour the wine country you really should have a car. I've also stayed at the Lodge at Sonoma and while you can walk a mile or two to the Sonoma Square for restaurants, if you plan on visiting the many wineries in the area you will need a car. I suppose there are tours that you can take, but driving in the wine country is not at all difficult and it would be so muc easier to get from the airport to Sonoma, and around the countryside with a car. <BR><BR>If you absolutely do not want a car, then I suggest you contact the Lodge at Sonoma and ask about airport transportation. Super Shuttle is an option. Perhaps the Sonoma Airporter has pickups at OAK. Try a google search for &quot;OAK to Sonoma&quot;. Good luck!

I just tried the search and found this:<BR><BR>http://www.airportexpressinc.com/schedule_oak_soco.html<BR><BR>This is a shuttle service that will take you from OAK to Petaluma, San Rafael, Santa Rosa or the Sonoma County Airport, which is also located in Santa Rosa. Perhaps it would be possible to get to the Sonoma County Airport and then arrange a ride with the hotel?

Hey hey spike. That's the same web site I directed him to. It kinda looks like we're in a conspiracy to get himon that shuttle. : )

Another option from SFO maybe be Marin Airporter taking you to Golden Transit buses, it depends on when you're coming, I think there is direct bus connection with Sonoma on weekdays. If not, there is a bus to Sonoma, but I'm not sure if it's from Santa Rosa or from Petaluma or both. Search for Golden Gate transit buses and for Sonoma Country public transportation.

Suzie, I guess I didn't see your post until after I made mine! We should be careful or someone will accuse us of being the same person. Hmmmm....

Thanks everyone for all the input. I'm in Amsterdam, trying to help a colleague who is organizing a seminar at The Lodge. Strangely enough The Lodge does not seem to have been very helpful with regard to transfers from the airports. So I turned to the Fodorites who can help with everything! Transport from SFO is now solved and it looks like there are a couple of door to door vans from Oakland. We're going to wait to see how many people are actually flying to Oakland before further investigation. Thanks again. Dank je wel en tot ziens.
