Oahu: weekday considerations
Dear Fodorites,
My family and I will be spending 2 weeks on Oahu this coming October and want to split our stay between the Honolulu area and the North Shore. Since we fly in on a Sunday and out on a Saturday, we'll only have one full weekend so I wonder if there are sights/events happening only on specific weekdays that we should keep in mind in the further planning. So far I've only noted the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet in this respect. Also, would some of the beaches and hikes be considerably more busy on the weekend? Best wishes from Copenhagen! |
I wonder if dusty56438 is still a contributor? He had loads of recs.

But to answer your question, any beach on Oahu will have increased attendance on weekends.

Kapiolani CC Farmer's Market happens on Saturday mornings (and Tuesday). I'm not sure it's a "must do" but would be fun if you were in Waikiki and had extra time. |
Thanks a lot for your responses, OlesourthernBelle and Suze.
We'll plan our most important beach visits for weekdays then, and since we do love a nice farmer's market, I'll add it that to my list :) I think however our 2 weeks may not at all be long enough! |
When we visited the Iolani Palace, they had a band play on the grounds each Friday. You may want to check on that or any other events they may have. Loved our docent tour of the Palace and the Christmas ornaments I bought there.
