Oahu wedding planner advice

Hi everyone. Before I post just let me say that I'm a forum newbie so I apologise in advance for any faux pas I may commit ! So my question is regarding wedding planners on Oahu. I've spent absolutely loads of time surfing and have have finally reduced the list to two i) Sweet Hawaii Wedding and ii) A Hawaii Wedding.com. Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) of either of these ? I have already checked out the tripadviser.com forums and drawn a blank so any help would be much appreciated. Cheers m'dears.

You may want to try calling some of the hotels in the area and see if they know these planners.

Hi, I've just been happening to plan my own wedding this summer on Oahu and discovered a Hawaii Wedding message board on www.theknot.com They have tons of info regarding weddings on the islands.

Congrats and happy planning!

Thanks tcapp. That's one thing I hadn't thought of. ggrtist I had already looked at the knot but will keep checking. How are your wedding plans coming along. Have you decided who to go with yet ? Two sites I found helpful were the Better Business Bureau (BBB)and the Hawaii Chamber of Commerce. Although these don't give feedback or testimonials from other newlyweds / to be weds they will tell you if there have been any complaints against a company in the past three years. Are you planning on going for a big ceremony or just something small but sweet ?

ggrtist, just in case you want to take a look these are the links I was talking about

http://www.hawaii.bbb.org/

Not very positive I know to start looking for complaints first !!! Hope you find everything you are looking for. Congratulations and good luck. Would love to hear how everything goes.

Thanks kheirokid, sorry, I haven't been checking fodors regularly lately..been so busy with planning :) Thanks for posting that info.

We only had less than 5months to plan our wedding, the big day is in late June. We were going to go with one of the companies that offered total packages, but since a few more guests are coming than expected (still only about 25) we decided to do a more formal wedding with a dinner reception at a private beachfront location. Our caterer is also the coordinator.

If you want something small but sweet, there is a gal on the knot by the name of 'annhawaii' you can contact her and ask who she used, it was one of the wedding package companies and she was very happy with them.

Regarding Oahu and general, we are advising our guests to get a car so that they can experience other parts of the island in addition to Waikiki. Though, one is not necessary at all if you plan on staying in the Waikiki area only. Getting around there is very easy and there are several companies that offer bus tours to Hanauma Bay, the North Shore and Luaus.

Speaking of Luau's, the Paradise Cove location is a pretty place for a wedding (they have packages) and your guests can attend the luau afterward..just a thought, I"ve heard of several weddings that do that.

Good luck and Happy Planning!
