We will be staying in Kaui for the 2nd week our wedding/honeymoon. Can anyone suggest a romantic hotel that is suitable for a honeymoon but not too incredibley expensive? Any suggestions of activies on Kaui that you have done yourself and can recommend (for or against) Also, we are staying on Oahu for the 1st week and want to stay someplave decent but not too expensive (saving the money for activities and Kaui) I havr done hours of research and after awhile, they all look the same to me and I know that all three star hotels are not created equally. As always, thanks for the advice.

I know I sound like a broken record to regulars kiwi but what about a condo?

You have more privacy can eat in which is more interesting than you think in Hawaii. I am talking incredible tuna redder thicker and fresher than anything we ever see in NYC, fresh tropical fruits, vegies. I would go for a stand alone home myself. Love Hanalei but there are some real deals at places like the sealodge. If you want to be closer to a resort Pua Poa, Hanalei Bay (princeville not Hanalei town). Think about the kind of beach assess available to you. If you need to trek down a hill or walk flat out. Are you near beach parking this might bring in parties at night not always but it can happen. Have to tell you that secrets beach in Princeville or is it hideaway beach? (next to Pville Sheraton) is probably the most romantic beach on the NS. So private and not many people seem to visit. Kind of seems like a deserted island. I WAS THERE WITH MY SISTER!!!!

You should pick your places and choices and than ask what others think about locations. You can also search archives here for others comments. You also have epinions.com
lcuy, I'm right there at 1177. Yes! the Fodors GTG is on for October. I wasn't sure how to get in touch with you because we both do not use our whole addresses here. One of my (many) addresses is [email protected].

As for lunch--I have heard from kalena but I think she is on a trip. I think I rather go to your side of Kapiolani--I think it may be cheaper??

Kiwi, I just went to a wedding last night at the Ihilani (Ko Olina). The ceremony was at 5 in the gazebo, a popular place for ceremonies but you could easily arrange for somewhere else on the property. After that, the reception was out on the lawn facing the ocean. As the bridal party sat, the sun was starting to set behind them. It was an INCREDIBLE backdrop!! So we had the hotel on one side, the lagoon on another side, and the ocean & sunset in a panoramic backdrop.

Next month I will be at a wedding at Haiku Gardens, I'll post a report here.

As long as it is in Hawaii I just cannot complain...
I am sure I will need more advice as we narrow it down so as always...thanks!

OK so I went to Haiku Gardens yesterday for a wedding.....it was gorgeous in a stunning, gorgeous setting. The reception at Haleiwa Joe's (right there on the property) was also nice--a buffet brunch. The only big drawback was that it was overwhelmingly humid, and there is no air conditioning, only fans. Usually you can count on nice tradewinds from the Koolaus, which are also right there, but it was unusually still. Probably not a big problem in July, but a larger problem in August and September when it is more humid.
