oahu- waikiki hotels
I need help in choosing a hotel in Oahu. I would like it to be on the beach- Outrigger on Waikiki and Sheraton offer the same price..which one is better? how about marriott? Im travelling with my husband and 4 yr old daughter- what's the weather like end of oct? thank you in advance!

Marriott is nice. Lobby has a nice waterfall and sitting area. Its on the quieter end and a short walk to the zoo and acquarium. I personally prefer this side of Waikiki Beach. The Outrigger is about 2-3 blocks away. Also a nice hotel, but more noisy at night.

I have stayed numerous times at the Sheraton Waikiki, the Outrigger Waikiki, and the Waikiki Beach Marriott. I prefer the Marriott (deluxe corner room.) I like the location of the Marriott the best, it is across from the beach, the hotel has great facilities, and the block it is locate on isn't so frantic. Also the valet parking there is the best!

Which Outrigger and which Sheraton?
The Marriott isn't directly on the beach if that's important to you. It's across the street from the beach. The Marriott was renovated so rooms and lobby are fairly nice. |
sheraton waikiki..im choosing also between outrigger reef and outrigger waikiki

Do you like a lot of activity or something a little quieter? Of course this is all relative as some would say all of Waikiki is very busy (these are slight differences here). The Outrigger Waikiki is right in the busiest section. The Outrigger Reef is farther west and if I remember correctly (this is the one where the Shorebird restaurant is located right?), the stretch of beach here is fairly narrow. But if you continue heading west toward HHV, there are some nice quiet stretches of beach. The Sheraton Waikiki is located midway between the two Outriggers and is what I consider the start of the really busy section. The Marriott is farther east than all of the others and this area starts to get quieter again as you head toward Kapiolani park.
I haven't seen the inside of the rooms of any of these except for the Marriott. Some have commented that the Outriggers are in need of refurbishment. Check this map for locations: http://www.spotlighthawaii.com/oahu/waikikimap2.asp# |
thank you all for your reply!

We stayed at the Outrigger Waikiki last month and enjoyed it, although it is very busy. I don't think you can really go wrong with any of these hotels. I would simply go with whichever hotel you get the best deal at. We left in September and they were about to begin major construction in the Outrigger Waikiki lobby so I'd check into that if you are talking about going this month.
