Oahu, Turtle Bay Resort

Hello,
My husband and I planned a trip to Hawaii in November of this year. We are going to stay at the Turtle Bay Resort on Oahu's north shore. If there is any one who has stayed here, your opinions would much be appreciated.
Secondly, I tend to get a little motion sickness at times, how are the roads in Oahu? Are the roads real windy and roller coaster like (i.e. up and down)? This will be our first trip to Hawaii and I would like to be prepared.
Thanks for reading.

Michelle, the Turtle Bay has aged a lot! It's part of the Hilton chain, but I'm not sure if they even really acknowlege it anymore. It is very much out of the way, if you're looking for that, but I think the facilities do need a face lift.

We do have highways here, the only time you will encounter windy roads is if you are going up a mountain....so not likely.

I agree with the other response...the Turtle Bay Hilton needs a facelift...it is very remote...so you will have to stay in at night or plan to do some driving if you want to go out to Waikiki for a meal or show...and the roads at night arent the best if you dont know where you are going...I would suggest that if this is your first time in Hawaii, you stay 3nights in waikiki..a nice big place on Kalakaua Ave or Kuhio Ave....drive to turtle bay for a day at the beach and stop in Haleiwa for a plate lunch or 'shave-ice ' on the way!...spend another day at Pearl Harbor..and schedule a tour of the Iolani Palace..and walk Waikiki Beach..take a surfing lesson..have a drink at sunset at 'Dukes'..then go to the "Big Island" of Hawaii..fly into Kona..stay in Waikoloa and enjoy Hapuna
Beach one day..go into Kailua town for the evening...spend a full day driving out to black sand beach and volcanos natl park..then relax the rest of the time!..if you can spend 3 or 4 days in Kona that would be ideal...and if you can spend a few more days in Hawaii, go to maui or kauai...for any island, as far as motion sickness..the roads arent bad..just slow going..remember..respect the 'local' way of life..it is much slower than on the east coast...have a great time...its a beautiful state..and lots of history..oh..one more thing..if you have time go to the 'swap meet'..at the Aloha Stadium..its fun to spend half a day there..great buys for gifts to bring home..but go early..very local..but so much fun!

This property looked as if it needed a face lift a few years ago. Call to see when it was last renovated. It is located in a beautiful spot.

Hi Donna,

When is the "swap meet" at Aloha Stadium? Is it on Sunday only?

Mahalo,
Cathy
