Oahu snorkling

I have a 70 year old friend going to Oahu to house sit in August. Can anyone suggest a good company for snorkling?

there is good snorkling available without using a company. the most popular spot is Hanauma http://www.honolulu.gov/parks/facili...bay/index1.htm click on the green tabs for more info.

Aloha thanks, I have heard that place is extremely busy, but will do more research.

besides here on Fodor's, check the Honolulu forum over at www.tripadvisor.com There's lots of good information there, and if you're looking for spots outside the Waikiki area.

We snorkeled at Shark's Cove at the North Shore and rented equipment across the street-don't remember the name, but there was only one. It was a little tricky getting to the water over rocks, even for us, so it might not work for your friend. The variety of fish and the sea turtles were amazing, though.

Hanauma is busy, but there is a reason why it's so popular. the access is very easy and there is a lot to see. your friend might like to look at this site, which has info on snorkeling and scuba from shore http://www.shorediving.com/Earth/Hawaii/Oahu/index.htm
