Oahu or Maui - Dinner on the Beach
We are taking our first trip to Hawaii in March (Maui and Oahu). It will be a family trip (me, husband and 2 boys - 12 and 16); but one night I'd like to have a grown-ups-only romantic dinner on the beach. I saw something like this on some tv show (but can't remember which one!) and I thought it looked great. Any suggestions? We are staying at the Westin Ka'anapali on Maui and the Outrigger Waikiki on Oahu. Any other advice welcome as well! :-) Thank you!

I am pretty sure the Westin will set up a private dinner for you. I don't believe it is on the beach but in a cabanna at the adult pool that looks out on the beach. Going that way would probably be a lot more private than actually on the beach. On both Islands the beach is public and pretty busy in front of the hotels where your staying.

There are a few companies who will do a dinner on the beach. However, it's expensive -- around $400 for 2 people, if I recall correctly, and that doesn't include gratuity. Also note that the tradewinds can really start kicking and make what would seem very romantic decidely less so.
:) I think "Dinner on the Beach" is one company. |
Tableside Chefs do a lot of dinners for couples on the beach on their wedding day. And yes, they are pricey, and it can be windy in Kaanapali. The south end would work better for these things. There are a number of restaurants in West Maui located oceanside with great views such as Pacific'o, Kimos, etc. Just request that you be seated at the very front for best views when you book your reservations.

If you want a great restaurant on the beach in Maui try:
Pacific'O Mama's Fish House or Hula Grill |
