Oahu in June

Hello,

We are going to Oahu this June for our 15th anniversary. Oahu was chosen because we want to use ff miles and the only way to use them to get anywhere in Hawaii at the time we want, we have to fly into Honolulu.

Now I’m in search of a place to stay. We would like to be on the beach in an area not too crowded. Would prefer a small bungalow type place or even a condo rather than a high-rise hotel but we’re really up for anything. It would also be nice to be walking distance to some restaurants/bars. Any suggestions?

Thank you
Terri
I’d like to add that we will only be there for a week and also we’d rather stay in a smaller, less busy town than Honolulu.

Thanks
Terri
It is late to do a rental but you should still try. The beaches people look outside of Oahu are Lanikai, Kailua, Waimanalo all on the windward side. This is my favorite place also.

Other options are North Shore Sunset beach (primo), Bonsai pipeline area, this is great also. If you are going to hotel it consider Turtle Bay (formerly Hilton).

Kahala and diamond head, black point are also nice and closer to Honolulu. These are affluent neighborhoods and usally absent of tourist crowd. HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DID YOU PARK THIS FF SPACE? Article this morning in the WSJ telling people that Honolulu is one of the most difficult destinations to score.

I agree you should try to find a house or condo on the beach in Lanikai or Kailua. Have a look at vrbo.com. If that fails (and actually before you spend lots of time on it) try to book yourselves into the Kahala Mandarin Oriental. It's upscale and in a beautiful location, away from the tourist crowds. They have some specials going on now, fourth night free, I think. Have fun!
