if you want to stay in waikiki, the halekulani hotel
is very elegant and the staff there is wonderful.
if you prefer to be out of waikiki, the kahala
mandarin oriental hotel in kahala would be your
best bet. enjoy your visit!

There is no place better to stay on Waikiki Beach
than the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. I have been staying
there, during various times of the year, for over
twenty years. The "old" Hawaii can be felt in the
original rooms in the original suites, and the "new"
can be felt in the tower. Both is wonderful. How
about direct access to the beach? Umbrellas? Now
they have lounges, which have replaced the back
rests of yonder! Beach boys who cater to your
whim, food and drink on the beach. Many entertainment
opportunities, evening dinners, shows, and anything
else you can think of. Conceriege available, and
very helpful. Don't forget the Polynesian Center,
just across the street. Visit the Hanohano Room
at the top of the Sheraton - beautiful! A great
Luau, each weekend! The best ever! Enjoy!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Ihilani Resort. It is fabulous. We went there for our 20th anniversary about 2 years ago, and then my brother-in-law went there for his honeymoon last summer. It's 4 or 5 star quality, beatiful rooms, magnificant food, not too crowded, very upper-scale guests, great service. When we arrived, on our first night, there was a small group having a party around the pool area. So instead of going out to eat, we ordered a fabulous meal up to the room, had it set up out on the balcony with white table linens ...the works! It was very romantic... hearing the waves crashing, listening to hawaiin music from the group below... it was just great. I've traveled the world, and Ihilani is one of the best resorts, especially for a couple.
