Oahu B&B
Anyone have recs for B&Bs or other such unique & interesting accomodations on Oahu. It would be for just 1 night, and I'd like to avoid Honolulu/Waikiki if possible.
Aloha & Mahalo! |
I enjoyed my stay at Sharon's Serenity B&B in Kailua. Easy to get to from the airport over H-3 highway, and close to one of the best beaches in Hawaii. She has a pool and a couple of cute little dogs.

Last summer I stayed at the Diamondhead bed and breakfast. It's in a quiet residential community about a three minute drive from the park entrance. It's also close to Waikiki, the zoo and aquarium. It's run by two charming ladies who offer a great Hawaiian breakfast and have many great stories to share.

Here is a link that lists 50 B&Bs for Hawaii. About 8 are on Oahu, mostly in Kailua.

Thank you all. I checked out each and every one...but as I suspected nobody wants to rent for just 1-night. Shame because my heart is really set on staying in a B&B or similiar and I LOVE the windward coast.
I'm still waiting to hear back from one place...fingers crossed! Plan B - I'll stay in a Waikiki hotel, and just spend the following day on the windward coast. Plan C - Totally splurge on a place like the Ko Olina (sp?) and do it up since it's my 30th birthday! Plan D - Would it be worth a short trip to the Big Island? I really wanted to make it to a "new" island this trip, but it didn't happen. Our flight from Maui arrives in Honolulu at 3pm. I guess I could check interisland flights and hop over to Hawaii and have the evening and the following next day to explore. Hmm... Whatever I decide, it's Hawaii and it's ALL good. :-) But if anyone has any insight that would be great. Mahalo. |
If you're stuck with Waikiki you might enjoy the Hawaiiana Hotel. It's old school, low rise, pretty gardens, two small pools, very low key but in an excellent location. It's not a B&B but kind of funky and at least it's not a bazillion room highrise. Priced around $100/night, coffee served on the patio in the morning, the have a web site.

Thanks Suze, I have stayed there before and did enjoy it. The following year I was at the Queen's Surf for about the same price and I liked the location & view. Both are nice, though. I could likely find myself at either of these places in March. aloha

Thanks for the mention of Queen's Surf, I've only recently started traveling solo to Honolulu and threads like this help me too.
