Oahu and The Bus

Will anyone share with me favorite beaches or towns that I can easily get to on The Bus from central Waikiki?

I am looking both for nice day trips for a visit next month, but also options for low-key places to stay for future Oahu trips.

Thanks!

You can get to every beach on the island by bus.

I know because my MIL is visiting and loves to ride the bus. She gives me a trip report every night! Her favorite are the circle island routes. They don't really circle the whole island (the west side is not included) but the cover the center of Oahu and the entire north, east and south shores.

Does anyone know if you can take a fold up 3 wheeler pram on The Bus. I checked out their website and it stated that a fold up stroller only is acceptable. Is a stroller and a pram called the same thing in USA? We are Australians, and they describe two separate things for us.

A stroller is a pram...but not one of thoses monster English prams! If your's folds it is probably okay.

Don't let the driver tell you 'no' if it is a normal fold up stroller. If you've got the baby along, you can take it.

mandy, what you call a pram, if it a 3 wheeler is also known as a stroller so you should have no problem.

When I was young (my father was raised in Australia) a pram (and English pram) was called a baby buggy here in the US. They always were large, usually wicker and had 4 wheels. Plus a half cover to keep the weather eliments off the baby.

A 3 wheel pram has to be what we consider a stroller.

Thanks very much for your help. I posted the same request again by mistake - please ignore.

Sorry, Suze, I didn't post on this initially because....well, I don't ride the bus! The only way I get around the island is by car or by foot. Literally, running around the island!

Have you tried http://www.thebus.org/Pop/pop.asp --this is the Bus' website and that link is for popular attractions from Waikiki with detailed instructions on how to catch the bus to your desired destination.
