Oahu
My wife and i plan to spend two weeks in Oahu this coming January.
Just wondering where would be a nice location (?? Kailua) to stay on the island and yet be able to enjoy the other interesting parts of Oahu?
Also, any ideas concerning where to find a nice place to rent (VRBO, etc.) for two weeks would be appreciated.
Thanks

I'd LOVE to stay in Kailua for two weeks! You can get anywhere on the island easily (with a car, doable but harder without one). We once kayaked in the morning at Kilua, and then drove clear across the island (to Haleiwa) for lunch.

With two whole weeks you can afford to do some driving and yet not feel pinched for time. Finding a home in Kailua, Waimanalo, North Shore or even Koolina would place you in the "country" which can be nice and quiet.
However getting a condo in Waikiki, or near Ala Moana, would be close to everything and even allow you to walk to shops and eateries daily which could be fun also.

I would stay in Waikiki for part of the time, walking to the aquarium, take he bus to Chinatown, Iolani palace, etc. Then rent a car and move out to the north shore or Kailua.
I've used VRBO several times on O'ahu and had good experiences.

waikiki - can rec a good condo at waikiki Shore. VRBO has a couple of them. It is right on the beach but no pool. Love the lanai that looks out onto the water, the park and at night the city lights. You can also rent through the Outriggeer Reef for the waikiki shore so you have use of the pool and workout facilitiees. Be sure to find out if you use VRBO if they have use of the pool at the reef (next door) most don't but a couple do..there are 1 and 2 bedroom units.
