Hi All - was just about to book the Warwick when a friend suggested I look into the Algonquin. I found a good rate of about $191/night (includes b'fast). Does anyone have any thoughts on this hotel? I know its a step up from the Warwick, which I can get for $148/night. Trying to decide if the add'l ~$50/night is worth it - we are staying for 4 nights...

I stayed at the Algonquin. Very tiny bathrooms but I loved the history and convenient location

The Algonquin is a nice, albeit older hotel in a good location, close to both Times Square and Bryant Park. I like it, but I'm not really sure it's that much better than the Warwick. The lobby is significantly nicer, but you don't have to stay there to experience that. It's a toss-up to me. You won't be unhappy, but I could find more things to spend that extra $50 a night on, including one more really good meal with a nice bottle of wine.

I recently stayed next door to the Algonquin at the Iraquios and recommend it: http://www.iroquoisny.com/about/

Doug - thanks for your opinion. Helps alot.

dcd - thank you for the Residence Inn info. I've been watching travelzoo - even looked yesterday - and didn't see that. I'll definitely look into it. Doug says that's one of his preferred hotels so I'm very interested.

Thanks again to everyone.
