NYE in FLL or Miami Beach

We leave for a cruise out of Miami January 2. Flying into FLL and thinking of coming in on January 31 as that day is our Anniversary. We are a young at heart couple in our early 60's. We normally stay at the Hilton Marina Ft Lauderdale pre cruise or Embassy Suites Ft Lauderdale even when we sail out of Miami because we prefer the area (close to shops and restaurants) Since it will be NYE and our Anniversary we were contemplating staying somewhere on Miami Beach. We aren't looking for night life we just want a fun place to stay with a nice pool/bar area and a view. For our Anniversary (NYE) we just want a nice dinner somewhere and were thinking that perhaps there would be some kind of firework display on the beach. It would be perfect if we could watch from a balcony at our hotel. Any suggestions for a hotel that fits the bill on Miami beach that doesn't break the bank? Everything is so high over NYE. We were hoping to stay around $300 a night and everything I see in Miami looks to be $500. Would we be better to just stay with the Hilton Marina Ft Lauderdale?
Thank you in advance!

The new Maragritaville on Hollywood Beach. Lovely facility, great neighborhood. New steak house restaurant just opened. Easy access to Ft. Lauderdale or Miami ports

Sorry to say, Cheryl, but Booking.com shows a low price for that property on 31 December as $674.00

I live on the beach in FTL. Are you absolutely wedded to that Hilton (yes, I know how convenient it is) but for ONE NIGHT would you at least consider staying over here on the beach for a change? You can do all the things you say you want to do here.

Wow, Dukey. Looks like Margaritaville has a bad case of self aggrandisment

We are absolutely NOT wedded to that Hilton. Any great suggestions in Ft Lauderdale would be very much appreciated!
