NYC - wine bars, etc

Hi,
I'll be visiting Manhattan Nov 11- 13. Wondering if there's any recommendations for wine bars, tasting events or such. Also interested if anyone knows of any food related events/benefits during this time. Thanks and cheers.

Just fyi, Morrells on Broadway and 20th is owned and run by people who own one of the better wine shops in town (Morrells) and have huge selection by the glass.

Here are 2 previous threads with more ideas.

A few of my local favorites are:

Morrel's on 49th Street in Rock. Center. A fairly large selection of wines by the glass. It's operated by one of the cities most well known wine merchants.

Bateau Ivre - Small, intimate spot on East 51st between 2nd & 3rd Ave. Nice selection of French wines by the glass.

You might check and see if the Chelsea Wine Vault (9th Avenue @ 16th Street) has anything going on that night. Though it has been a few years since I've been to one, they used to have (and hopefully still do) have wine tasting events on Saturday Nights. We went to one that compared California Wines to French wines with a winemaker from Bordeaux and Napa each discussing their region.

I like Divine, a hole-in-the-wall, but trendy little wine bar. I think it's in Midtown East, if I remember correctly. Downstairs is a full bar where it looked like a lot of fun and trendy locals were hanging out; upstairs you can drink wine and eat tapas (I don't think they serve full meals). They have wine flights too--I did a tasting flight and looooved it. Fun place! Decorated in bright colors.
