NYC-which airport
In the past we have always flown into LaGuardia when visiting New York City but just checked airfares and the price is the same into any of the NYC area airports.
Which is better for ease of travel, length of travel time, etc. into Manhattan? |
Depends on where in Manhattan you're going. Usually it would be La Guardia, unless you're going downtown, where Newark may be closer.
Thanks!
We're staying at the Sheraton in the Times Square area. I assume that means LaGuardia is our best option. |
You can take a bus or train directly from Newark into Manhattan. The bus drops you off at 42d and Eighth Ave. The train takes you to 34th and 7th Ave (Penn Station).

Since this is a business trip we'll have extra luggage (computer equipment) so we will want to use a taxi. If it were vacation we always try to economize by using public transportation so I'll keep that in mind for our next trip.
For a taxi you're best coming in from LGA with JFK second. Newark is worst because it's coming from New Jersey/using their cabs.
At what time of day are you planning to touchdown?
We'll probably land some time around 1 or 2 p.m. There are flights out of DFW about once an hour so we can have our choice.
Fly into LGA, take a cab. The 2nd option is to fly into JFK and take a cab (set fee of $40). I've found that cabs from Newark can get very expensive, especially with tolls/traffic, etc.
Thanks all! LGA it is.
LGA is the best bet for Manhattan period. Take a cab or a shuttle bus located outside baggage claim. They're cheaper and stop at Grand Central then Port Authority (Times Square.) If you're company allows taxi, I'd go with that for door to door service.
