NYC walking tours

Looking for suggestions for free NYC walking tours.
Thanks

Even if you take a free tour, you should tip the tour guide, so nothing is really free.
Free Tours by Foot is one organization; Big Apple Greeters is another.

For Big Apple Greeters you have to reserve a host far in advance since there are many more requests than there are volunteer hosts.

The host will show you a part of the city they know well - or you ask about specifically and show you how to use public transit. Since these are volunteers do NOT tip them - but you can offer to share a drink or a casual meal with them.

Walkingoffthebigapple.com has self guided tours. There are free tours of Grand Central and the area on Fridays.
