NYC/Upper West Side lunch recommendation for this saturday needed

hi all
my husband is graduating from business school this saturday evening. the ceremony is at lincoln center, so we thought we'd do a lunch before hand.

it will be us, our three year old and his parents. we'd like something not too fancy, seafood, steaks, italian is fine.

any help would be great!

thanks.

How about Isabella's behind the American Museum of Natural History? If the weather cooperates, you can sit outdoors (on Columbus at 77th St.)?

If you like cajun food, across the street and north about 20 yards you'll find Jacques-Imo's (excellent crawfish etoufee).

Another nice spot, not too far away, is the Hudson Cafeteria in the Hudson Hotel (on 58th Street). It's a cool space, good food but a bit pricey, depending on what you had in mind. Also, Rosa Mexicana is has a nice dining room near Lincoln Center. For basic Italian that's affordable and good (but not fancy) there are a few places on Amsterdam between 79th and 80th.

thanks for the quick responses.

i'll check them out. i also saw some info on Ocean Grill, any experience with them? it's a little farther than i'd prefer, b/c with a 12 block walk we'll definitely need the stroller, but we could also do a cab, i guess.

The Ocean Grill is very good.
What time are you planning on having dinner? If it's around 6 p.m., you may have problems getting reservations at a lot of places in the Lincoln Center area at this late date.

howard, the graduation ceremony is called for 6, grads have to be there at 5, so we were looking to do a luncheon at around 2.

i've just realized/remembered that my father in law is not a seafood eater, so i just have to call the Ocean Grill tomorrow and check that they have some non-fish items for him.

Dear Ediegirl -- closer to the Lincoln Center is Cafe Mozart 154 W 70th St [1/2 blk east of B'way], NY, 10023 - (212) 595-9797 Hours: Open Weekdays 8am-1am; Weekends 10am-1am
and Cafe Luxembourg 200 W 70th St[@ Amsterdam], NY, 10023 - (212)362-9337 Hours: Open Mon-Sat 12pm-12am
-- I've eaten dinner at both prior to attending a show at the LC -- and they are both incredibly good. you might call, but I would think Mozart might be more kid-friendly!

congrats!! -- rosemary

Cafe Luxembourg would be my choice. Everything from burgers on up. Fiorello's for Italian is directly across from LC Congrats!!!

If you're talking 2 p.m., then you have your choice of restaurants, as that is just past the peak matinee crowd.
For convenience, I would recommend Josephina on Broadway across the street from Lincoln Center. Excellent food.
